This online discussion is aimed at beginning to integrate the collective expertise of ISTR members into the future use of ventilation solutions and building HVAC design to control airborne contaminants. We want to know about your experiences, understand your concerns and hear your thoughts.
The COVID-19 pandemic has generated concern regarding a lack of collaboration between engineering and safety experts. Guidance has often been too engineering focused and sometimes appears mis-leading.
It seems likely that building ventilation systems, in whatever type of building, will be assessed differently in a post-COVID world. To achieve meaningful operational and design guidance for the future, it is time to align engineering and safety (including biosafety) disciplines.
