Membership InformationThe benefits of being a Member or Associate include Members’ rates at ISTR symposia and access to presentations given the symposia, being able to attend our exclusive Members’ only skills workshop and being part of the ISTR discussion forum. There are four categories of ISTR Membership. See Annex A (page 6) of our constitution for full details. New applicants apply to become Members or Associates. The requirements for each are: MembersA graduate or equivalent in an appropriate discipline with at least two years full time experience of safety related work at one of the following:
Where an applicant's role is part time in safety the minimum qualifying period is extended pro rata. Membership application should be supported by two referees. If possible one referee should be a Member or Fellow of the Institute. If this is not possible one of the referees should be a senior manager, head of department or similar from the applicants workplace. Members may use the designatory letters MISTR. AssociatesThose whose knowledge and experience do not qualify them as Members can join as Associates provided they have sufficient interest in the activities of the Institute. Referees are not required. Both categories of membership are open to those who work outside of the UK provided the appropriate standards of qualification and experience are met. FellowsNominations for Fellowship are made to and agreed by the Executive Committee before being elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. Retired MembersFor members who have retired from gainful employment but who wish to retain their membership of ISTR.
Please follow the process below. Once your application has been submitted it will be reviewed by the ISTR Executive Committee. Membership will be activated upon approval by the Committee and receipt of payment. |
