If this is not possible one of the referees should be a senior manager, head of department or similar from the applicants workplace. Members may use the designatory letters MISTR. Members have voting rights and are eligible for election to office. AssociatesThose whose knowledge and experience do not qualify them as Members can join as Associates provided they have sufficient interest in the activities of the Institute. Referees are not required. They will enjoy all the privileges of membership except that they will not have voting rights, nor will they be eligible for election to office. Both categories of membership are open to those who work outside of the UK provided the appropriate standards of qualification and experience are met. FellowsNominations for Fellowship are made to and agreed by the Executive Committee before being elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting.
